Guest Blogger: Allie from It's a Wonderful Life

Thank you Allie for guest posting while I'm away! Please give Allie and her sweet family a visit when you get a moment here: It's a Wonderful Life

.........................................................................................................................

Hey Paper Mama readers! I was so excited when Chelsey asked me to write a post for the week she's livin it up at BlogHer! I got to meet Chelsey and Ruari around this time last summer and we had a lot of fun. Has it already been a year? That's crazy. This time last summer, our babies weren't even crawling! We propped them all up on a picnic blanket and they could barely balance their wobbly bodies. Now, things like this are happening- time is so strange:

Last week I was making dinner in the kitchen as Henry was playing with his toys in the other room. It's nice when babies reach the age where they can keep themselves entertained for semi-long periods of time, you know? After a while I noticed the absence of babble coming from the living room so I said, "Henry?" No response. "Henry?" Again, nothing. I turned the burner down and went into the living room where there was a pile of toys...no baby. I started searching the house all over, getting more frantic with each baby-free room. What if he fell down the stairs? What if he was stuck in the toilet? And then from the corner of my bedroom came a thumping of baby feet stomping the hardwood floors. Out from the curtains came a giggling Henry, so proud of himself for discovering such a great hiding spot. It was at this moment that I realized just how much Henry has grown up. Babies seem so little for a stretch of time and then they do something like play hide&seek and it catches you off guard. How do they learn these things without you even noticing? How do they manage to surprise you when you've been watching them the entire time? Henry is quickly becoming his own little person and it's really fun to watch but seriously? Babies are the trick masters and speeding up time is their specialty!

Guest Blogger: Danielle from Sometimes Sweet

Thank you Danielle for guest posting while I'm away at BlogHer! Please give Danielle and her sweet family a visit when you get a moment here: Sometimes Sweet

.........................................................................................................................

Hi all! Danielle here from Sometimes Sweet! While Chelsey (who just happens to be one of my favorite online pals in the whole, wide internet world) is out in San Diego enjoying some quality BlogHer time, I am here to keep you all company.  I thought long and hard about what I wanted to share with all of you wonderful Paper Mama readers, and I finally decided to share some of my "favorite things" about being a mom to the coolest little dude on the planet, Henry!  My son is a little over 8 months old and getting more fun by the day- it's insane how quickly he's changing. So, here you go - my current top five favorite things about being a mommy:

1. that feeling you get when your child looks up at you with those eyes, and you kind of feel like your heart is going to just burst from all of the love you feel. Yeah, that.

Las Vegas, July 2011

2. Taking a step back and realizing that your little one is truly making you into a better person. I swear, since Henry came along I have been so much more patient and I really just want to be the best person I can be. Not that I was necessarily a bratty, impatient person before (all the time at least, ha!), but now I just feel like it's my responsibility to make our days the best they can be and my actions and attitude play the biggest role in this.

3. Naptimes (for me) during the day. Okay, this one isn't as sweet as the first two, but I can't lie, I LOVE napping with Henry in bed mid-day. Nothing's better. I was a high school English teacher for five years before becoming a stay-at-home Mom, and every single time I take a nap in the middle of the day I'm incredibly grateful I'm able to do that. And then I realize that if I wasn't napping with H. I'd be on lunch duty, trying to wrangle hundreds of 15-year olds into the designated lunch areas. And for that I'm doubly grateful.

4. Laughing. A lot. Whether I'm laughing at myself or laughing at my sweet boy, I feel like I find myself smiling and laughing a million more times now that I'm a Mom.

7 months

5. Having a new sense of appreciation for my awesomely strong and amazing body!  I'll admit that before Henry I dealt with some body issues, but after...I feel like such a new person. I definitely still workout often, but I feel like my focus isn't so much on how I look, but more on how I feel.  I think it has a lot to do with going through pregnancy and childbirth, and seeing what my body is capable of. I feel like I give myself a lot more credit now, and let a lot of my perceived "flaws" go.

Thanks for reading everyone! And Chelsey, thanks again for having me!

Hey everyone, I wanted to make a video instead of a basic guest post. Sometimes words can't describe how you feel for someone. I hope you find this video heartwarming...

Thank you Jessica for guest posting while I'm away at BlogHer! Please give Jessica and her sweet family a visit when you get a moment here: TART

.........................................................................................................................

Hi there! I'm Jessica from TART and so happy to be guest posting for the lovely Chelsey! I thought I'd share some of my hair tips with you guys.. they're not perfect but that's the point. They're the quick(lazy) tips and methods for achieving the looks I was going for and I hope at least one (or all three) of them will be something you'll want to try yourself and have fun with!

1st- My more modern look. It's basically just a tip about how I have my hair cut, but I also share one simple way to spice it up with an accessory that I'm sure you've seen many times before.
2nd- My 1950s pinup inspired look that I can't get enough of. This is my lazy method but I think it still looks just as cute as when I go all out and spend a lot of time on it. Note: if you have bangs like me you can curl them under (down towards your forehead, not up towards your part) and bobby pin them to achieve a quick, more authentic barrel look if you want.
3rd- My 1920s flapper inspired look. I was trying to keep the video short and sweet so don't mind the fly-aways and too-loose pin curls. This is one of my favorite hairstyles for a night out on the town.
Thanks for watching and enjoy!
